Since 1992, the income-generating programs of KHAN TOULOUN have assisted generations of artisan families to improve their lives and are helping charities to market their products in Cairo, Sinai, Siwa, Fayoum, South Sinai, Assiut, Sohag and Luxor. On display are items from creative arts TOULOUN that supports Egyptian artisans and local associations by selling their products. Products are all Egyptian made like hand-made pottery from Tunis in Fayoum, Garagos in North Luxor. Pottery from artists of Cairo include the famous nativities and white angels available year-round. Egyptian mouth-blown recycled glass, alabaster candle holders and other articles mixed with copper are on display along with a selection of textiles from shawls to table cloths with or without traditional embroidery from Siwa and Sinai. Items made by the women of the garbage city include greeting cards made with recycling paper, rugs, purses, quilts with recycle material, purses using the flip tap of soda cans and necklaces from recycled coffee capsules.
